Associate Membership Information
What is the Value of Associate Membership?
ABSDA has been offering comprehensive services to the Building Materials industry for many years. These services extend from the retailer to the manufacturer and include all aspects of the Building Materials industry.
Many of the same benefits that are available to a Dealer Member are available to an Associate Member. In addition, special associate member discount rates apply to advertising, mailings and booth rental rates in the annual Atlantic Building Materials Show.
Additionally, dependents of ABSDA Associate Members in Atlantic Canada may be eligible for the ABSDA $1,000. university scholarship.
Who Can Be an Associate Member?
Associate membership in ABSDA is open to any manufacturer (including manufacturer’s agent), distributor, co-operative purchasing organization (buying group), wholesaler or service firm whose income from business operations in Atlantic Canada is derived primarily from the sale of products or the provision of services to the dealer members of ABSDA in the ordinary course of business and in such a manner that benefits all parties concerned.

Preferred Booth Rental Rates
ABSDA Associate Member firms, exhibiting in the Atlantic Building Materials Show receive preferred booth rental rates, offering substantial savings.
Free Dealer Mailing Labels
Upon request, ABSDA Associate Members in good standing are entitled to one set of dealer mailing labels at no charge. Subsequent sets are available at nominal rates.
Atlantic Building Supply News
Member firms receive the association’s own magazine - 'The Atlantic Building Supply News'. This publication keeps readers up to date with the latest industry news and trends and is published in March, June, September & December. It is a great advertising vehicle for promoting your firm’s products or services. In addition, four timely newsletters are published annually.
Preferred Advertising Rates
ABSDA produces three high quality publications in which to advertise your products or services. Preferred advertising rates are available in Atlantic Building Supply News and the ABSDA Buyers Guide. The ABSDA newsletter is available for sponsorship to associate member firms only.
Listing In The ABSDA Buyers Guide
ABSDA Associate Member firms are automatically listed in the supplier section of the annual Buyers Guide. This publication is distributed to all Atlantic area building supply retailers and Associate Member firms and is well known as one of the industry’s leading resource tools.
Education Programs
ABSDA is committed to delivering programs, which are timely and focused on today’s industry needs. Members receive preferred pricing and space availability over non-member firms. The Education Committee also offers a certification program - 'Retail Business Management Studies', a five component program covering Management Skills, Human Resources, Finance, Inventory and Marketing.

When in Moncton, Associate Members can take advantage of special ABSDA hotel rates - Contact ABSDA for rates.
Group Insurance
Group insurance programs, tailored to individual firm needs, are available to ABSDA member firms. This is an excellent opportunity to compare your current costs with the industry.
Government Affairs
ABSDA speaks for the building supply industry, making your voice stronger. At the national level, we are able to lobby through our membership in the Canadian Retail Building Supply Council.
Scholarships & Bursaries
Twelve $1000 university entrance scholarships and twelve $1000 bursaries are presented annually in Atlantic Canada. This is available to dependants of Associate Member employees located in Atlantic Canada.
No Charge Meeting Room/Training Space
ABSDA Associate Members may book meeting space at the ABSDA Members Building on a no-charge basis. The facility has both a board room which accommodates up to twelve and a conference room which accommodates up to forty. Catering service may be arranged at a nominal rate.
